It’s as if the safest place in all the world is his arms. It’s how a mother looks at their newborn, pleading for them to know they will forever be a soft place for them to fall. And the way a sibling brushes their cheek gently and then looks back up to make sure they did it right? So peaceful, so new, so perfect. It’s the first time they look back at you. How their fingers wrap around yours. It’s celebrating all of those firsts. They grow so quickly through the haze of days that also seem long.

Your maternity shoot

I feel extremely blessed every time I am asked to shoot a maternity session. Pregnancy is such a magical time, I am in awe of what women’s bodies are capable of. Capturing those bumps, even though you might not feel beautiful. (I felt like a whale so I get it) is pure magic. But to be able to show your little one what you looked like when you carried them is pretty amazing. I absolutely love capturing maternity sessions, every baby bump is unique and every mother to be is going through a range of different emotions.

How to prepare for the day.

The focus is on your growing belly, however just like all my other sessions they are very natural. It’s about being together as a couple, or a family and enjoying this intimate moment together before the little one arrives.

Maternity sessions are captured around 32-35 weeks. While you still have plenty of energy and not feeling too exhausted and your bump is clearly visible. This also allows time in case you do have an early arrival or we have to reschedule due to poor weather. Sessions are all captured either in the comfort of your own home or at a location of your choice at sunset. For those outdoor sessions the time will be 1 hour before sunset.

Once your session is booked we can discuss locations and clothing. I will share my clothing guide which helps provide tips in choosing outfits for the shoot are also includes a small collection options for bumps and newborns. You are welcome to any.

I am so glad I chose Lisa to capture my pregnancy. The maternity session I booked with her was fantastic, and the photos exceeded my expectations - and took my breath away. Lisa made me (and my husband) feel comfortable. She played music, and allowed us to be ourselves without feeling like we were posing too much or uncomfortable. Lisa made me feel beautiful and I'm so so happy she captured my bump and this special time in my life
